Specs Overview

Sizes

If you are on a listing page, in this field you will find all the available sizes for that specific product. If you are instead on an ad page, this field reports the Size of the spedific product that is for sale.

The Size is one of the most important information for choosing the best fitting product to your body. Wehtere it is a bicycle or gear. Speaking about bike clothing and shoes, sizes follow the international size charts, but when it comes to bicycles and frames it is not possible to define a standard. Bicycles and frames come in many different shapes and geometries and this results in several sizing methods. As a general rule, though, you can assume that road bicycles are sized by the lenght the seat tube in centimeters (52, 54, 56, ...) and mountain bikes are instead sized by the S,M,L, ... rule. Our advice, is to look carefully at the sizing chart you can find in our product pages, but to be sure you are choosing the best fit for you, always refer to your trusted dealer or shop, because he is the one who is the one who can assist you at best for this purpose.

Description

King of the Mountain. The trail taming RIP 9 RDO, For more than a decade, the RIP 9 RDO trail bike has ruled our off-road lineup. For 2019, this flagship bike evolves again. Our do-it-all trail bike hits the sweet spot with 140mm of consistent, controlled CVA suspension, progressive and adjustable geometry, and increased frame stiffness. Plus it’s got more standover for 170mm dropper posts, longer reach, and a shorter head tube. More versatile and capable than ever before, reach for your RIP to tackle any trail. Breaking our own rules to give you the best ride possible. We’ve gone and done it. We built the most badass non-niner Niner ever made. Why didn’t we just make a 29er that also fits 27.5-inch wheels? Well because we aren’t willing to compromise. If we’re going to do something so big (or should we say, small?) and something so contrary to our brand history, damnit, we’re doing it the right way. There are compromises in making frames to fit multiple wheel sizes and we just weren’t willing to do that. Why the small wheels, after a decade-long commitment to 29ers? Riders have told us that they love the stable yet supple, consistent and controlled behavior of our CVA suspension. They love the brand. They love the designs. But they want more standover, less rotating weight, and the fast handling, quick draw agility of 27.5ers. We’ve applied every bit of our big-wheel know how to this new RIP. And after riding it, we’re so glad we expanded our minds (and our rides) to include the 29er’s more playful little brother. The longest, lowest, and slackest Niner ever made Thanks to the flip chip, two different geometries mean two bikes in one. The high mode geo is perfect for everyday trail riding. This bike launches uphill and over technical terrain, thanks to CVA suspension and a steep, 75.8-degree seat tube angle. When you’re all out of breath, turn around and point it down. Drop in with confidence thanks to the long reach and slack, 66-degree head tube angle. The RIP’s low mode brings out its rock star, party down personality. By slacking out the head angle a full degree and lowering the bottom bracket 7mm, the RIP transforms into a whole new bike that’s perfect for chairlift days, shuttle sessions and backcountry excursions with long, rowdy descents. We also built in more standover clearance and a shorter seat tube to accommodate 170mm dropper posts. A little less travel, and a LOT more bike. The new RIP sports 140mm of CVA suspension on a light, stiff, strong RDO carbon frame. With new Rib Cage struts across the front triangle, flattening of the top and down tubes, widening the main rocker link pivot, and beefing up the rear triangle, the entire bike is stiffer from front to back. The struts reduce bottom bracket deflection while keeping the upper portion of the front triangle supple and compliant. And the wide, flat surfaces found on Niner’s top and downtube help to absorb frontal impacts and vibrations while resisting deflection (twisting) under torsional load. CVA suspensión. Niner’s Constantly Varying Arc, or CVA™, is built to be supple yet stable, controlling unwanted suspension movement with calibrated anti-squat, yet remaining active while climbing and descending. Courtesy of a new higher overall leverage ratio, starting off at 3.0 and ending right around 2.3 for an average of 2.55, off the top it’s easier to set the shock in motion and overcome static friction. It’s also more supportive in the midstroke, holding the rider higher up in travel. Going down, it’s consistent and controlled. With no need for heavy compression damping to control unwanted movement, CVA is tuned for consistent, confidence-inspiring behavior on descents. It’s perfectly balanced, so the result is stable yet supple, active, ground-hugging traction in every situation - cranking uphill, ripping downhill, and everywhere in between. RDO carbon fiber. We start with the best grades of raw carbon layered precisely according to the stress points on the frame structure. In construction, our process employs rigid internal molds and results in tighter, more consistent compaction of the carbon fabric. The result? Increased precision in wall thickness and reduced resin pooling in the final product. We can build more elaborate structures with better ride tuning, increased strength, outstanding durability, and less weight.

Brand

A product's Brand is an identifying mark that defines the manufacturer of that particular product.

Niner
Family RIP 9 RDO 27.5
Name
Model Year

The Model Year value corresponds the reference year when a specific product has been put on sale on the market. Note that bicycle manufacturers use to present the models that you will find on sale in the next year in the period July-December ot the current year. You will also hear speaking about "Catalogs" and this is pretty much the same as "Model Year". This expression comes from the past, when pretty much every manufacturer was printing paper catalogs where they used to collect all the available bicycle models for a specific year. So, in the current language you will still hear speaking about "Bike XYZ from the Catalog 2021", as well as "Bike XYZ Model Year 2021".

Categories

Bicycles can be categorized in infinite ways. Every online shop and Brand's website uses a different categorization. At EurekaBike we have been monitoring the bicycles' and eBikes' market for years and, after an in-depth study, we decided to create e category system which is the most rational possible, and that we would like to propose as a reference for the sector. Probably that is not the best for everyone's needs, but the familiarity everyone has with Categories is also a matter of habits. Through EurekaBike category system we are able to collect tenths of thousands of bicycles in a quick and unique way: each and every bicycle model is associated to one and one only Category and, for this, you will never find overlapping cases. After years of testing, we believe that this system is the best way to collect potentially all the bicycles existing in the World, in a way that everyone, from the more expert to the rookie, will be able to easily find them.

Women Specific

The Women Specific attribute can have only two values: "Yes" or "No". If the value is "Yes" it means that the bicycle is specifically conceived for women. All products tagged as "No", can perfectly be used by women, but they are not specifically designed for them.

Since the first years of 2000, several main bicycle brands pointed more and more attention to products that are designed and produced to match the very demands of the she-riders, and following this trend, even some women-only brands were born.

no
Kids Specific

The Kid Specific attribute can only have two values: "Yes" or "No". If the value is "Yes", it means that the bicycle is specifically designed for children or kids under the age of 14. Since the physiognomy of children and teenagers is very variable, we advise you to consider this parameter as an indication and always to consult your trusted shop to find out if the bicycle you are interested in is right for your child in terms of type and size, for the intended use.

Frame Material

The Frame Material attribute refers to the main material used for the construction of the frame. You can find a few Manufacturers that build frames using more than one material (e.g. Carbon + Aluminium). This solution is often used for building the “triangle” out of one material and the “swing arm” out of another one, and this allows to obtain different handling behaviors and/or to make savings on the production costs. Some bike models, mainly from the past, had one-piece frames built combining two materials. To do this they joined, for example, carbon tubes with aluminum joints, applying aerospace gluing technologies.

Manufacturer code

The Manufacturer Code is a unique code that defines a particular Model from the side of the producer or brand. Often, this code can be found in manufacturers' catalogs or websites, but due to producers not adopting always the same standards, when the Manufacturer Code is not available, at EurekaBike we give the product an internally created Manufacturer Code based on the defining parameters of the product itself.

Eureka SKU

The Eureka SKU is a universal product code (UPC) that univocally defines a specific product in the bicycles' market.

Sharing the Eureka SKU of a listing bicycle, for example, means to indicate a very well-defined combination of Brand, Model, Mounting, and Model Year parameters that define a single bike model and no one else. The Eureka SKU of an Ad product, instead, is built from other information that guarantees it is still unique compared to all present, past, and future products managed by EurekaBike.
