Fox Factory, Inc. designs and develops shock absorbers and racing suspension products. The California based company offers its products for snowmobiles, mountain bikes, motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, off-road cars, trucks, and sports utility vehicles, as well as designs and offers apparel, race gears, hats, hoodies, and accessories.
In 1978 the company founder Bob Fox developed the first prototype of the Fox AirShox air damper for a motocross bike. Only a few months later it went into production and facilitated victories in countless road and cross-country races. In addition to motocross, Fox Racing Shox also made a name for itself in the late seventies in off-road car racing. In 1983 Fox shock absorbers already started dominating the US-American car and motorcycle racing sport.
With the arrival of the first mountain bikes at the end of the 1980s, the development of specific MTB suspension forks and shocks began. The Fox Factory engineers used the FLOAT air suspension system already established in the vehicle sector. In close cooperation with professional athletes, superior products such as the 40 suspension fork, which won numerous Downhill World Cups and World Championships, or the 36 fork, which supported Richie Rude and Tracy Moseley to countless victories in the Enduro World Series, were developed.
Although Fox started out in motorsports, today over half of the business is centered around pedaling.
