The most comprehensive range famous and requested by the US brand, is updated with the new GX Transmission which brings with it; some improvements…

Sram GX Transmission: the gearbox

There's some news; important: Sram talks about “updated operation” without adding anything else, the transmission cage changes to steel to increase strength, and maintains the possibility of being dragged. to be disassembled without the use of tools, this also to allow riders to replace the components at will. One of these components is the the Magic Wheel which is removed from the new gearbox and becomes optional. The battery changes its position, which “enters” more inside the derailleur, to increase protection.

As for the weight? Here are the values:

  • GX Eagle Transmission weight: 467 gr
  • Weight XX Eagle Transmission: 441 gr
  • GX Eagle Axes weight: 436 gr
  • Price (without battery): 480€ (against 660€-700€ for higher models)

Sram GX Transmission: the cranks

They are in forged alloy (aluminum) and are compatible with the Sram DUB with removable bashguard, while for the e-MTB version it is compatible with the Sram DUB with removable bashguard. a specific Gap Cap is provided for Bosch and Brose motors and, in general, for motors with ISIS axle and 104 mm BCD.
The lengths for the e-MTB cranks are 160, 165 and 170 mm, while for the MTB version they are 165, 170 and 175 mm.

It’s not available. the version with power meter is foreseen, but the Mtb crank is compatible with the gauge integrated in the spider (optional).

  • GX Eagle Transmission e-Mtb crank arms weight: 239 and 250 g
  • Prices of 170€ (e-Mtb version) and 240€ (Mtb version) (against the 360-1260€ of the higher models)

  • GX Eagle Transmission e-Mtb crank arms weight: 239 and 250gr
  • Prices of €170 (e-Mtb version) and €240 (MTB version) (compared to €360-1260 for the higher models)

Sram GX Transmission: the chainrings

This component also changes material and switches to steel to increase resistance, they are specific for the Transmission system and therefore are designed for a 55 mm chain line and a 3 mm offset. The number of teeth on the chainring can vary in 3 sizes (both mtb and e-mtb): 30, 32, 34 teeth, with 8-point hitch for the mtb version.

The weight has not been specified, the price, however, is 47€.

Sram GX Transmission: the chain
The chain of the new Sram Gx Transmission also has the Flattop design, is made entirely of steel, has solid rather than hollow pins, has a nickel-plated finish for greater durability and is designed to withstand the greater torque of an e-MTB.

  • GX Eagle Transmission weight: 286 gr (with 120 links)
  • XX Eagle Transmission weight: 250 gr (with 118 links)
  • GX Eagle Axs weight: 254 gr (with 116 links)
  • Price: 60€ (against 120-180€ for higher models)

Sram GX Transmission: the cassette

The look is cheaper, but the features (i.e. Cassette Mapping) and operation are the same as the higher models. However, the construction provides a PinDome design for the first 8 sprockets (i.e. the individual 8 sprockets are riveted to each other others) and a Mini-Cluster scheme for 9-12 sprockets (ie the 52-tooth sprocket integrates the structure on which the 44, 38 and 32-tooth sprockets are riveted).

To be clear, the operation is the same, indeed it is more resistant than the X01 and XX1 thanks to the nickel finish, however the weight increases given the lower price.

  • GX Eagle Transmission weight: 446 gr
  • XX Eagle Transmission weight: 383 gr
  • GX Eagle Axes weight: 456 gr
  • Price: €300 (against €480-720 for higher models)

Sram GX Transmission: complete groupset

The list prices fluctuate between €1150 (e-Mtb) and €1300 (Mtb) against €1900-3250 for the higher models. The Mtb groupset includes: rear derailleur, battery, charger, Pod shifter, cranks with chainring, bashguard, chain and sprocket set.
