A great day for the Canadian youngster Jackstone Goldstone (Santa Cruz Syndicate) in Val di Sole, Italy, where he catches his first career win in the Élite Men Downhill World Cup, by more than 2.2 seconds from Finn Iles (Specialized Gravity) and around 2.5 seconds from Thibaut Daprela (Commencal Factory Racing).
Goldstone takes a huge risk at the first turn and wins with class in Val di Sole 2023
The 19-year-old born and raised in the iconic Whistler bike park of Squamish, British Columbia, demonstrated stunning skills and focus in both riding technique and mental strength.
At the very beginning of his final run, in fact, he almost went over the bars due to a slightly too aggressive attack on turn one. A few meters after that, he also lost his left foot from the pedal he recovered again, and from that moment on he was, for a few minutes, literally on fire.
Jackson Goldstone pushed so hard during his run that he was able to recover the time he lost at the top of the mountain and overcome all the other riders at the end of the course.
The club of the Downhill Rookies that win
A stunning performance from Jackson who joins the winning rookies' team where also Jordon Williams belongs since a few weeks ago.
The downhill sport is changing fast and these super-fast young guys coming from different parts of the world are one of the most clear signs of how much this is true.
Their skills on the bike and the pure speed and momentum they are able to create and maintain in all situations look to us simply a new step reached within the sport.
Who knows where will they reach by gaining physical strength and racing experience...
