BMC (Bike Manufacturing Company) Is a Swiss bicycle and cycling product manufacturer based in Grenchen. The company designs, builds and distributes road bikes, mountain bikes, and commuter bikes.
In 1986, Bob Bigelow founded BMC as an assembler and wholesale distributor of Raleigh bicycles. After losing his distributor's license, Bigelow began building bikes under a new label called BMC, but it remained a niche brand.
In 2001, things positively changed for the company when Andy Rihs took over and made the necessary changes need to turn the potential within the company to actual success. This new strategy involved greater investment in engineering and design.
